Staff vacancies

There are currently no staff vacancies in CHEER.

At  CHEER, we are proud of our volunteers and their contribution to our success.

You can make a difference in the local community by volunteering with CHEER.

We are currently recruiting volunteers in the following areas:

Parkinson's Group volunteer

The CHEER Parkinson's Group meets every Monday at the Claygate Centre for the Community.  We are currently looking looking for a volunteer to support the group leaders in providing activities (such as light exercises, singing, games, poetry, quizzes and discussion) for people with Parkinson’s.  If you enjoy meeting and working with people,  have a mature and caring attitude, and think you might be interested in this role, please contact the CHEER office.

One of the important services that CHEER offers to our clients is the opportunity to have a regular home visit from a volunteer. A commitment of one hour a week to visit an elderly person in their home for a cup of tea and a chat can put an end to isolation and loneliness. Many of our volunteers build up a friendship that is rewarding and sees both parties benefiting from the experience.

"I look forward to visiting Bob - it's a real pleasure"

You must have the ability to empathise with older people together with good listening skills.

If you think you might be interested in this role please contact one of our friendly team for an initial without commitment discussion.  Telephone 01372 879321 or e-mail

We are always on the lookout for people to join the trustee board who have the commitment and skills needed to help lead the work of the charity, including expanding its activities, promoting its work in the community and fundraising.  If you have good interpersonal skills and the ability to make an effective contribution to strategic decision making, we would be delighted to hear from you.  To arrange an informal discussion please  e-mail

Members and Friends
